In her 7 years my daughter Amely (Mia) has traveled with me across almost all Asia as a full-fledged companion in our independent journeys in such countries as India, Tibet, China, Thailand, Sri Lanla, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapur, Malaisia. She succeded to finish hardest trackings around m.Annapurna (8091 m height. Nepal, 7 years), track to the hard-to-get Stok-Kangri in Ladakh (6137m, India, 3.5 years), track to the Kanchenjanga (8586m) viewing platform in Sikkim (Dzongri peak 4030m, India, 3.5 years), track to Annapurna base camp (4.5 years) and others.
Mia has got her “vaccination against mountain dislike” in intrauterine period, “having visited” Altai and the Caucasus. Since very first months of life she continued her way of experienced hiker: in her age of 2 months she traveled to the Caucasus, in her age of 1 year age participated in sport rafting on Iset river (Ural), in her 1 year and 3 months she started her first serious journey: 140-km horse ride to the heart of Eastern Sayans – Shumak springs (Buryatia, Baikal region)
This young lady doesn’t consider all these journeys as achievements or acts of bravery, it is her “normal” life, so when we do not go to mountains due to different reasons, she starts to miss “white mountains” and sometimes feels in urban atmospere cool alpine air instead of traffic fumes. And I, her mother, start crying, and we begin to plan new routes.
Now, having seen half of the globe, having swum in dozen of seas and oceans, having stepped hundreds kilometers in the most beautiful mountains of the world, having lived in culture and traditions of amazing ethnic groups, Amely knows school subject “Surrounding world” much better than many teachers. She can tell you with pleasure about Hindu gods, Nepal animals, Vietnam quisine, political situation in Tibet (singing her favorite mantra), teach you how to make sea knots, collect right mushrooms, pack a backpack and swim in “dolphin style”. Make friends with her and she will open the doors to this Beautiful World for you.
Thorong La mountain pass, 5416 м – the highest point of the track around Annapurna, the most dangerous among all eightthousandths, Nepal. Amely is surrounded by Tibetan pilgrims near th Stupa – ritual sacral object near Larun Gar – the largest tibetan buddhist universities in the world.
